The Gospel Truth Series
The Gospel Life
Mark Lomison (Senior Minister) shares with us from Philippians 1 what the Gospel life looks like and how it inspires fearlessness, demands transformation, and expects fruit. This sermon summarizes the three messages that follow.
Main idea: You don’t have to live like you once did
The Gospel Shalom
Jonathan Willmore (Discipleship Minister) now develops the idea of “Expecting Fruit” further, the last point from the first sermon. He does this by going to Leviticus and showing how the sacrificial system was always for the purpose of being the sinner back into an abiding relationship with God. Then, because of that abiding relationship, through Jesus Christ connecting us to the father, we can bear much fruit for him (John 15).
Main idea: The Gospel is about eternal life beginning now
The Gospel Kingdom
Mark returns and develops further the idea of transformation from the first message via the Kingdom of God and Jesus’ message from John 6:1-8. Here the story of the feeding of the 5000 shows us that we can change the world even with the littlest of things we have to offer up to the Kingdom like this small boy with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.
Main idea: The Gospel brings value and purpose to our life now
The Gospel Challenge
Jonathan finishes up the series by pushing forward this idea of fearlessness through the story of Paul being shipwrecked and never giving up hope when everyone else does. Here, Jonathan provides 4 storm survival strategies to get you through the rough patches in life. When the storms of life are raging and we might cower and give up all hope we have to keep moving forward not abandoning ship, be still and chill, give praise to God, and letting God get us where we are going on broken pieces.
Main idea: my broken pieces + the Gospel = enough for God, he will do the rest.
